One of the biggest issues the building industry faces is the transparency from manufacturers around the composition of their materials in products and their impacts on human and animal health. Annie is on a crusade to create industry wide awareness and manufacturer compliance through her vehicle of “THE TRANSPARENCY MOVEMENT”.
The Transparency Movement is a not-for-profit initiative dedicated to driving awareness, education, and action toward healthier, more sustainable building practices.
Serving as a platform for keynote speaking, advocacy, and industry influence, it aims to foster greater transparency in the built environment. A key focus of the movement is creating awareness of toxic chemicals in building materials, an issue now gaining visibility with the increasing media coverage of PFAS and other harmful substances affecting human health and the environment.
Additionally, the movement is committed to empowering women in trades by creating funding opportunities, mentorship programs, and pathways for increased representation in the industry. Through thought leadership and financial support, The Transparency Movement seeks to break down barriers and accelerate progress toward a more inclusive, health-conscious, and ethically responsible construction sector.
This is a vision I am committed to realising in the near future, bringing meaningful change to both the industry and the lives of women seeking careers in trades.
